The oceans harbor an incredible amount of resources, many of which remain undiscovered. In some areas, the impact of human activity is threatening the delicate balance of underwater ecosystems – some species are disappearing before we even know they exist. There are many things we don't fully understand yet and much still hidden in the deep, waiting for science to reveal it.

In collaboration with UNESCO and the IUCN, the Changing Oceans Expedition aims to establish the status of key marine ecosystems and marine protected areas. These snap shots, based on various studies and observations, will give scientists a reference for future research.

That's also where Fleur de Passion comes in. She's fully equipped with the equipment both scientists and communicators need to reach the depth of the sea and the eyes and ears of the world online. This allows many talented researchers to get out where it matters, make new discoveries and share their findings with you.

Medicine, biodiversity, ecology, climatology, marine archaeology – whatever their field of study, scientists who partner with us in the Changing Oceans Expedition will carry out specific-research to understand what is happening in a given marine area or gather data over long stretches to look at whole marine systems and species. The expedition also has a wide range of contributors, ready to lend a hand where specific skills and knowledge are most needed.
