Tourism

Who doesn't love to spend time at the beach, especially if the sand is white and the water is clean? Coastlines provide spectacular locations for sports, relaxation, adventure and recreation. However, all too often, we ignore how important these regions are for other living things with which we share this environment - living things that, in many cases, were there millions of years before us. Our jet skis and propellers have cut them up, our plastic bags and other garbage have choked and poisoned them. Little by little we are destroying that which we love to see and touch. It is vital that we improve regulations on coastal tourism. We need to increase the number of marine protected areas and raise public awareness. The Changing Oceans Expedition will work towards this throughout its journey around the world.
