mission effectuée The Aeolian Islands, geological miracles which fascinated the antique greco-roman imaginary, are very rich in life and classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO. Antinea will explore these volcanic formations, and also to its sea floors which are not yet under the protection of a marine reserve. Do these islands necessitate the double protection of UNESCO and the IUCN? Antinea will try to answer this question with the help of several scientists.
At the Aeolian Islands, the notion of marine heritage takes in all its meaning. Video transects and 3D modeling will be used here to study change. When change happens slowly, as a result of geological activity, species, plants and animals adapt to new conditions, but when it happens fast, as with human activity, they often cannot.
