Observation Protocols for Cetaceans - Pelagos Sanctuary - France - August 08 to 15, 2009

mission effectuée

The rich biodiversity found in the Pelagos Sanctuary is of incalculable value: rough estimates suggest the presence of over 8,500 animal species, representing 4% to 18% of the world's marine species. Marine biologist Céline Arnal, President of Cybelle Méditerranée, will come on board Fleur de Passion to further develop new protocols for the observation of Cetaceans, rays jellyfish, dolphins and sharks. The Antinea crew will then adopt these protocols throughout the expedition. Scientific partners: Cybelle Médierranée (Dr Céline Arnal)

The Antinea team will then be able to apply these new observation protocols on the surface (cetaceans, medusae, rays, sharks, moon fish) during the entire voyage aboard Fleur de Passion, and thus fill the data banks. Cybelle Méditérranée will also host a group of eco-volunteers eager to learn, whilst developing a greater knowledge of cetaceans. Partner : Cybelle Méditérranée (Dr Céline Arnal)
